Privacy statement CentERdata

CentERdata is a research institute, located on the Tilburg University (TiU) campus. Since 1997 we support and contribute to research that is relevant to science, society and policy. We carry out research activities on behalf of the academic community, public authorities and the private sector. Our mission is to answer research questions in the field of people and society. We collect, analyze and disseminate reliable data. We also develop models and draw up prognoses.

Careful handling of personal data is considered to be of great importance. Therefore, personal data are processed and secured carefully and in an appropriate manner. For this CentERdata adheres to the requirements set in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that came into force on 25 May 2018.

In this privacy statement, CentERdata explains when it processes personal data and for what purpose.

Purposes of processing

CentERdata processes your personal data when you:

  • visit or use CentERdata websites and data portals;
  • purchase/receive services or products from CentERdata;
  • are an employee, hiring employee, job applicant, supplier or potential client;
  • are in contact with CentERdata in any other way.

CentERdata processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • to contact you;
  • for relationship management;
  • for the conclusion and execution of agreements between CentERdata and you;
  • analyzing and improving our websites and data portals.

Legal grounds for processing personal data

The processing of your personal data is restricted to only the data that is minimally required for the purposes for which they are processed and that takes place on the following legal bases:

  • prior explicit consent;
  • in the context of the implementation and the realization of an agreement;
  • to comply with the law (including accounting, tax obligations and obligations in connection with court orders or other mandatory laws and regulations);
  • in connection with the legitimate interests of CentERdata, CentERdata ensures that the impact on your privacy is as small as possible. In this context, personal data are processed in connection with: the implementation of studies, models and statistics; the circumstance that CentERdata wishes to exercise or defend its rights (for example in disputes); and the management of customer data.

Minors

CentERdata only processes personal data of minors (persons under the age of 16) if explicit permission is given by the parent, caregiver or legal representative.

Exchange of personal data

CentERdata will only exchange your personal data with third parties, if you have given permission to do so. CentERdata will not sell your personal data or otherwise make it commercially available to third parties. CentERdata does not exchange your personal data with organizations outside the European Union.

Storage period personal data

CentERdata does not store your personal data any longer than necessary. The period depends on the purpose for which your personal data are processed and the minimum legal retention periods.

Rights of the person concerned

You can send CentERdata a written request for inspection, rectification, objection, limitation, portability/data portability, improvement, supplementation, removal and/or protection of your personal data. You can submit such a request if your personal data is: factually incorrect, incomplete or not necessary for the purpose of the processing (anymore) or in any other way contrary to a statutory provision.

CentERdata will inform you in writing how your request is assessed, as soon as possible, but no later than four weeks after receiving your request. If CentERdata approves your request, your request will be executed within fourteen days after the approval except in case of force majeure. If you have a complaint about the use of your personal data and you cannot work it out with CentERdata, you can also submit your complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

Security

CentERdata has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data and to maintain their accuracy. These measures also serve to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, unauthorized use and unlawful processing. The appropriate technical and organizational measures implemented by CentERdata are stored in an information security policy.

Cookies

CentERdata only uses technical, functional and analytical cookies that do not infringe your privacy. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a computer, tablet or smartphone when first visiting a website. The cookies that CentERdata uses are required for the technical operation of the website and the ease of use of the visitor. They ensure that the website works properly and remember, for example, your preferences. You can opt out of cookies by setting the internet browser in such a way that it does not store cookies anymore. In addition, stored cookies can also be removed via the settings of the browser.

Changes to the privacy statement

CentERdata has the right to change this privacy statement at any time. CentERdata will inform you of these changes by means of an entry on its website.
