The Knowledge department of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) annually publishes reference estimates on the number of pupils in various educational programs. These estimates provide the basis for long-term budgets. Previously, the ministry used the Lector system for estimates. QDelft and CentERdata rebuilt and further developed the system in 2009.
The new system has been designed with modern technology for more flexibility. This way and because of the greater availability of information, it is possible to model and calculate at a greater level of detail. Thanks to its continuity, delivering existing estimates also remains possible.
CentERdata rebuilt Lector’s computational core in a modern environment (C#). QDelft implemented this and the user interfaces. The result is a modern system, Radon, which the ministry uses for annual reference estimates and calculations of the effects of policy on the flow of pupils and students in education. We are continuing to improve the system’s user friendliness and intelligence.
