Process Mining
A visual method for optimizing and providing insight to processes

Process mining is an objective, in particular visual, method to optimize processes in different application domains. The method, developed at Eindhoven University of Technology, provides critical insights for businesses undertaking digital transformation initiatives.

To visualize and to analyze

Process mining comprises several techniques that make it possible to extract information from event logs. This information (such as data from customer systems, process execution logs, and CRM systems) can then be used to analyze and visualize business processes through a process flowchart. A process flowchart is a graphical representation of a business process that provides an objective overview of the locations of bottlenecks or deviations and where there are inefficiencies in the process or where they can be expected.

Substantial efficiency gains

Process mining is not a goal in itself, but is often a part of an existing improvement process for companies and organizations. Case studies show that visualizing processes and treating the found process leaks results in an average efficiency gain of 15 to 25 percent.
