Since 1987, Statistics Netherlands (Centraal Bureau voor Statistiek, CBS) has been developing the Labor Force Survey (Enquête Beroepsbevolking, EBB), which it conducts annually. The data contain information about current employment, past employment and the search for employment and education.
What is special about this survey is that the questionnaire is completed by one person in the household who answers the questionnaire for himself/herself as well as for the other members of the household (15 years old and up). This is called a proxy-survey. The project is moreover of a longitudinal nature. The CBS publishes annually on a large group of labor market variables and quarterly about a limited number of variables.
In the first few years, an interviewer would visit the respondents at home to fill out the questionnaire (CAPI). Today respondents fill out the questionnaire on the internet (CAWI). If respondents do not respond to requests for an online interview, then they are interviewed by telephone (CATI) or in person (CAPI).
The CAWI survey was fielded in our LISS panel during the months of December 2013, March 2014, and June 2014.
The EBB is divided into different modules such as: current employment, the job search, overtime, past employment and education.
The EBB data from the LISS panel, code books and descriptives can be found in the LISS data archive.
