Peter Fontein is head of the Quantitative Analysis department and a member of the management team at CentERdata. A great deal of his work also consists of contract research. He specializes in applied quantitative microeconomic research in job markets, spending patterns and the financial behavior of households. Peter has conducted and led a large number of projects in the aforementioned fields as a senior researcher.
He graduated in Technical Physics and immediately started his PhD which he received in the same field. He furthermore completed an MBA at Purdue University and TIAS.
After receiving his PhD, he joined the Econometric department in 1990 as a researcher at the former Tilburg Economic Institute. He held a number of positions during his time at this Institute, including that of senior researcher, head of the department and managing director.
Peter has worked on a large number of projects during his career, independently as part of a team and as a project manager. These projects focused on quantitative economic research, programming complex (simulation) models, writing both technical reports and reports for the general public, conducting internal and external consultations and presenting research results.
