CAPI Sample Management SoftwareManaging CAPI interviews in a panel environment is a challenging task. Interviewing is usually done by interviewers on laptops without a connection to a central network. Fieldwork managers need to monitor the progress of the fieldwork and need to control this fieldwork. To assist this process CentERdata created the CAPI Sample Management suite. This is an easy to install software package that consists of a Sample Distributor (SD) which is installed on a central server and a SMS Client which is installed on an interviewer’s laptop. 
The different components of the SHARE SMS Some key features of this package are: - Longitudinal sample management (including preload management for questionnaires)
- (Re)Assigning the sample to different clients and interviewers
Assigning households in the SHARE SD - Registration of contact(attempts)
- Start and administrate Blaise (http://www.cbs.nl/en-GB/menu/informatie/onderzoekers/blaise-software/default.htm) face-to-face interviews
- Synchronize between laptops and a country SD server (and export data to a central data server)
- Importing and exporting data
- Fieldwork monitoring
Currently, this software is used in the SHARE project ( www.share-project.org). In the fourth wave of this project 20 different fieldwork organizations use this software to manage their local fieldwork. They also have the option to send the anonymized data to a central sample database server. |
